Islamabad: Pakistan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank have signed a $320 million loan agreement to fund the rehabilitation of the N-5 Highway. The project aims to enhance transport connectivity across multiple regions, including Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Radio Pakistan, the agreement was signed by Secretary Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim and the bank’s Chief Investment Officer in Islamabad, with Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema present. The rehabilitation of the N-5 Highway is expected to bolster Pakistan’s sustainable infrastructure. Minister Cheema remarked that the project signifies a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Pakistan and the AIIB.
