Islamabad: Ambassador Albert P. Khorev provided a detailed briefing to Pakistani media regarding the ongoing situation in and around Ukraine, highlighting Russia’s perspectives and concerns. His address covered a range of issues, including recent ceasefire efforts, accusations of historical revisionism, and allegations of corruption within Ukraine.
According to Embassy of the Russian Federation, Ambassador Khorev emphasized the significance of Victory Day for Russia and expressed concerns over what he described as a growing campaign against monuments dedicated to those who fought against Nazism during World War II. He criticized Ukraine for not adhering to a ceasefire declared by Russia during the Victory Day commemorations, reporting thousands of violations by Ukrainian forces during this period.
Ambassador Khorev also addressed the issue of forced mobilization in Ukraine, alleging that Ukrainian authorities have issued hundreds of thousands of draft notices through aggressive methods. He claimed that this has led to corruption and increased desertions. He further alleged that foreign mercenaries from several NATO countries continue to support Ukraine, while the West plans additional military aid.
The briefing also covered recent attacks on infrastructure by Ukrainian forces, according to the ambassador, which have allegedly resulted in significant financial losses for countries like Kazakhstan. Concerns were raised about deteriorating law and order in Ukraine, with accusations of human trafficking and corruption involving high-ranking officials.
Ambassador Khorev called out Western media for perpetuating what he described as false narratives, specifically referencing the “Bucha massacre” allegations and claims about the abduction of Ukrainian children. He concluded by mentioning unresolved issues such as the Odessa tragedy and the return of Crimean cultural artifacts, reiterating Russia’s stance on these matters.
