KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah facilitated a significant agreement between the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and Hassan Suleman Memorial Hospital (HSMH) to establish cardiac care services in Malir, promising emergency heart care and free advanced treatment for local residents.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to enable HSMH to provide essential cardiac services, including emergency assessment and stabilization. Patients needing advanced procedures like angiography and cardiac surgery will be referred to NICVD through a dedicated mechanism. The partnership includes tele-cardiology support and specialist consultations, with a focus on building medical staff capacity.
The signing, held at the Chief Minister House, was attended by Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho and other officials. Chief Minister Shah emphasized the urgency of cardiac care, noting that rapid diagnosis and treatment are crucial. He directed the Health Department to ensure the agreement’s effective implementation and develop a robust referral system.
Health Minister Pechuho highlighted the collaboration’s role in expanding cardiac healthcare access across Sindh, while Dr. Javed Suleman of the Hassan Suleman Foundation expressed gratitude for the partnership, which aims to improve healthcare outcomes for underserved communities.
The 20-year agreement is expected to enhance cardiovascular services in Malir, improving access to quality cardiac treatment for thousands in the region.
