Islamabad: The Senate of Pakistan unanimously passed a resolution acknowledging the Armed Forces, security institutions, and the nation for their role in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty. This resolution, introduced by Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, marks the first anniversary of the operation known as Marka-e-Haq.
According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution commended “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos” and Marka-e-Haq as demonstrations of the Armed Forces’ professional skill and strategic insight in countering external threats. The response to India’s “Operation Sindoor” was highlighted as evidence of Pakistan’s capability to defend its national interests.
The Senate expressed appreciation for the leadership of Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister in promoting national unity and conveying Pakistan’s position on the international stage. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was also recognized for his leadership in strengthening the Armed Forces’ preparedness.
The resolution paid tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis of the Armed Forces, as well as civilian victims of aggression and terrorism, expressing solidarity with their families. It emphasized the unity of the Pakistani nation with its Armed Forces and reiterated a commitment to Pakistan’s defence and stability.
The resolution also acknowledged the contributions of political parties and the media, urging the international community to promote peace and stability in South Asia and discourage tension-escalating actions.
Additionally, the Senate passed a resolution condemning the assassination of religious scholar Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idrees, calling for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. The Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, was extended for an additional 120 days, as announced by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry. The House was adjourned until the following morning.
