ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani have unveiled a new app, Retailer Scheme, designed to register small shopkeepers and retailers under a Fixed Tax Scheme. The launch, held at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Islamabad, aims to streamline tax processes for small businesses.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister emphasized the app’s development in consultation with stakeholders, addressing a longstanding demand for a simplified tax procedure. He assured the small business community that the new scheme would eliminate any issues or harassment traditionally faced in tax compliance. The app is expected to encourage wider participation in the tax net, with Aurangzeb expressing confidence in its uptake among retailers.
Bilal Azhar Kayani highlighted the app’s features, noting that it simplifies registration and tax return filing for retailers with an annual turnover of up to two hundred million rupees. Retailers can download the Asaan Tajir app from the Google Play Store and easily become tax filers. Currently available in Urdu, plans are underway to expand its language offerings to include other regional languages.
During a question-and-answer session, the Finance Minister also mentioned efforts to simplify tax returns for the salaried class, indicating a broader move towards easing tax processes across different segments of society.
