Lahore: Punjab Police has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a private organization to promote the historical and cultural significance of its ancient buildings. The agreement was formalized at a ceremony held at the Central Police Office, where Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, and Ghazi Taimour, CEO and Founder of the private organization, Lahore Ka Ravi, inked the deal.
According to a statement by Punjab Police, the project, named “Protection of History,” aims to bring awareness to the public about the historical value of police buildings in Punjab. The initiative will commence in Lahore before extending to other cities across the province.
Dr. Usman Anwar explained that the collaboration would involve recreational and educational tours, along with activities designed to educate citizens about the history and traditions associated with Punjab Police’s buildings. He highlighted the significance of the police stations and buildings, which hold centuries of history and stories.
The initiative will include bus tours to showcase the historical importance of police stations in inner Lahore. Similar efforts will be made to identify and enhance historically significant police stations in cities such as Rawalpindi, Multan, and Faisalabad.
Dr. Anwar stressed the project’s goal to bridge the gap between citizens and the police, as well as to enhance public awareness of police services. The signing ceremony was attended by senior police officials, including DIG Operations Punjab Waqas Nazir and AIG Operations Zahid Nawaz Marwat.
