Lahore: Punjab’s Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Minister, Sohail Shaukat Butt, convened a meeting to review the Dhee Rani Programme’s current financial year arrangements, focusing on facilitating mass weddings at the divisional level. The meeting addressed the programme’s implementation strategies, emphasizing transparency and effective execution.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting was attended by Secretary Saira Umar, Director General Dr. Shehenshah Faisal Azim, and other key officials. Discussions centered on the programme’s progress and future plans, with the aim of arranging mass weddings for 5,000 deserving girls in the current financial year, beginning in October.

In previous years, the programme successfully facilitated marriages for 3,000 girls in 2024-25 and 5,000 in 2025-26. Applications for the new phase have been submitted through the ‘Maryam Ko Batain’ app, which will undergo a scrutiny and verification process to ensure eligibility and inclusion.

The Dhee Rani Programme, endorsed by the provincial cabinet, aims to provide dignified marriages for girls from low-income families. Minister Butt underscored the importance of transparency and merit in the selection and verification process, urging officials to streamline arrangements and preparations to ensure the initiative effectively reaches deserving families.
