LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has mandated the restructuring of the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) and called for third-party validation to assess its performance. According to Directorate General Public Relations – Govt of Punjab, the directives were given during a special meeting led by the chief minister. Information and Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari provided a briefing on the department’s operations and communication strategy.
The chief minister also sanctioned the construction of a new DGPR headquarters and instructed officials to expedite the settlement of outstanding payments to the media. Emphasizing the need for modernization, she stated that the DGPR must align with contemporary demands to ensure prompt information dissemination to the public.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted the transformation of communication into a science, underscoring the necessity for modernized methods within the department. In an era characterized by abundant information, she stressed the importance of keeping the public informed about government welfare initiatives to help them discern facts from misinformation.
Additionally, the chief minister acknowledged the Information Minister’s exemplary efforts in the realm of public communication.
