Lahore: The Punjab Home Department has extended the ban on flying drones in open spaces across the province for another 30 days, continuing the restrictions under Section 144 due to security concerns. While a complete ban remains in effect, limited drone use will be allowed during indoor events, with organizers held responsible for their safe operation.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the ban exempts intelligence and law enforcement agencies, and district-level “Safe Drone Usage Committees” have been established to oversee drone operations. These committees can issue written permissions for drones used in agriculture, irrigation, and research, exempting them from the ban. The Secretary Home Punjab emphasized that public safety, law and order, and protection of public property are priorities, and local authorities have been instructed to enforce compliance with these measures.
