Jammu, August 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): Scores of power consumers held a protest in Jammu against the decision of the occupation administration to install prepaid smart meters in the Jammu region. According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters also blocked the highway for nearly two hours, stating that smart meter users in Jammu were receiving exorbitant bills amounting to thousands of rupees.

The protesters said they were against the current approach to installing prepaid smart meters due to the burden of hefty bills on households where these meters had been implemented. Police responded by using force on the protesters to ensure traffic flow.
