High Commissioner Inaugurates Sadequain Art Exhibition in Mississauga


Ottawa: High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem inaugurated the Sadequain Art Exhibition in Mississauga, Canada, today, celebrating the enduring legacy of Syed Sadequain Ahmed Naqvi, a prominent figure in Pakistan’s art scene from 1930 to 1987.



According to Press Information Department, the exhibition, organized by the Sadequain Foundation in collaboration with local hosts and media partners, aims to showcase the depth, symbolism, and cultural resonance of Sadequain’s artwork. The three-day event is expected to attract art and calligraphy enthusiasts, media members, civil society, and students from the Aga Khan Foundation Academy Toronto and other institutions. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with Sadequain’s work, which includes Islamic calligraphy, paintings, drawings, murals, and Urdu poetry, while reflecting on Pakistan’s contribution to global art and culture.



The event will also feature Pakistani scholar and poet Ashfaq Hussain, who will provide insight into Sadequain’s legacy, exploring his contributions to visual art, poetry, and scholarship.
