Productive Meeting on Pakistan’s National Curriculum Reform Held in Islamabad


Islamabad: A technical committee meeting on Pakistan’s new national curriculum was held with notable participants, including the Minister of State, Mrs. Wajeeha Qamar, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Mr. Nadeem Mahbub. The meeting focused on proposed reforms to enhance the curriculum’s coherence and future readiness.



According to Press Information Department, the session, co-chaired by Dr. Nasir Mehmood, Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, included a presentation by Dr. Tabassum Naz, Director of the National Curriculum Council. Dr. Naz outlined a new scheme of studies, emphasizing rationalization and a shift in language policy. The Secretary of Education engaged stakeholders in discussions on these reforms.



The Minister of State expressed approval of the proposed direction, confirming alignment with the country’s educational goals. Dr. Mehmood addressed concerns from participants, fostering a balanced dialogue. The meeting included participants from Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, highlighting inter-provincial collaboration.
