Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Partners with UN Agencies for Digital Youth Hub

Islamabad: The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) has initiated a strategic partnership with United Nations agencies to enhance youth development in Pakistan through the Prime Minister’s Digital Youth Hub. This collaboration, discussed during a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office, aims to connect young Pakistanis with employment, skills development, and entrepreneurial opportunities.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting, chaired by PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, included Mohamed Yahya, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Pakistan, and members of the UN Youth Task Force. The engagement focused on leveraging the Digital Youth Hub as a cohesive platform for youth-related initiatives, with significant involvement from Pakistani nationals who make up 90 percent of the UN Youth Task Force in the country.

The Chairman emphasized the significance of investing in Pakistan’s youth, with about 100 million individuals aged between 10 and 29, and recognized contributions from key UN partners like UNICEF and the United Nations Development Programme. He highlighted PMYP’s achievements, including the disbursement of over PKR 305 billion in youth enterprise financing over the past two years.

The Digital Youth Hub was spotlighted as a central element of this collaboration. Accessible via pmyp.gov.pk, the platform is designed as a comprehensive data-driven ecosystem comprising a youth supply registry, an opportunity demand registry, and a supply-demand analytics engine. The platform is set to be institutionalized under the FAYDA Act 2026, with federal ministries required to list youth-related programs.

During the session, UNHCR was formally onboarded onto the Digital Youth Hub, marking a milestone in aligning UN efforts with Pakistan’s youth development framework. The meeting concluded with a commitment to mobilize private sector participation and expand access to opportunities for young people, particularly those from underserved communities.
