Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the government is implementing priority measures to secure the future of the nation’s children. Speaking with a delegation from the Partnership for Lead-Free Future and UNICEF in Islamabad, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to eliminating polio and addressing the challenges posed by lead exposure.
According to Radio Pakistan, the delegation, which included UNICEF Representative Pernille Ironside and experts from Stanford University, praised the government’s efforts in protecting children from diseases such as polio. They briefed the Prime Minister on their recent survey in Pakistan and acknowledged the initiatives taken under his leadership in health, education, youth training, and information technology sectors.
Prime Minister Sharif reiterated his commitment to eradicating polio and highlighted the serious developmental issues caused by lead exposure in children. He assured that the government, in partnership with international organizations, is dedicated to mitigating these harmful effects. The delegation members expressed satisfaction with the current measures and stressed the need for increased public awareness about the dangers of lead.
