Prime Minister Expands Ramadan Relief Efforts with Enhanced Budget and Scope

Islamabad, The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has significantly augmented the Ramadan Relief Package, elevating the budget from 7.5 billion to 12.5 billion rupees, in a move to extend more substantial support to the nation’s underprivileged during the holy month.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the enhancement and expansion of the Ramadan Relief Package are designed to reach a broader segment of the population, incorporating utility stores, the Benazir Income Support Program, and newly introduced mobile units to distribute essential food items at reduced prices. The Prime Minister has mandated a comprehensive strategy to ensure that the benefits of the package are accessible to the maximum number of deserving individuals. The establishment of 1200 mobile points and 300 permanent centers is underway to facilitate the distribution across various locations, especially targeting the needy, poor, and deserving populace. The initiative, operational from the first day of Ramadan till its conclusion, promises food items at rates lower than the regular market prices, with the distribution network enhanced by GPS technology for precise location tracking. A dedicated mobile app will be introduced to aid beneficiaries in locating services, complemented by a
video tutorial. Additionally, a digital monitoring system is being set up to oversee mobile flour sales, ensuring uninterrupted supply and transparent distribution processes. Key staples like flour, rice, pulses, ghee, sugar, syrup, and milk will be sold under the program at prices significantly below market rates, supported by substantial subsidies.
