Pakistani Army Chief Strengthens Strategic Ties with Turkish Leaders

Ankara: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, currently on an official visit to Turkiye, engaged in high-level meetings with Turkish political and military leaders to bolster strategic and defence relations between the two countries.

According to Radio Pakistan, Field Marshal Munir’s visit underscores the intention of Pakistan and Turkiye to enhance their longstanding strategic partnership. Upon arrival, he was welcomed warmly, reflecting the historical connections between the two nations. Field Marshal Munir met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Minister of National Defence Yasar Güler to deliberate on mutual interests and regional security matters.

At the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, he was honored with a Guard of Honour and later met with Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroglu. Discussions focused on regional security and professional interests. In recognition of his efforts in enhancing bilateral military cooperation, the Field Marshal received the Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal from General Bayraktaroglu.

Additionally, the Field Marshal visited the Turkish Land Forces Headquarters and was received by Commander General Metin Tokel. He also paid homage at Anitkabir, the Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, acknowledging the historical bonds between the nations. The visit highlights a mutual commitment to reinforcing their defence relationship and efforts for regional stability.
