MIRPUR: Mirpur Police have reinstated legal proceedings against members of the proscribed Action Committee, following the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government’s announcement of a zero-tolerance policy towards unlawful activities by the group.
According to Radio Pakistan, the previous notification withdrawing criminal cases against the banned committee has been revoked. Legal proceedings have resumed, focusing on cases involving public property damage, vandalism, arson, rioting, and attacks on law enforcement personnel. As part of the renewed efforts, Mirpur Police have begun arresting individuals named in these cases.
Six individuals, including Zaheer, identified as a close associate of the committee’s ringleader Mehran, have been apprehended. Police operations are ongoing to capture other individuals implicated in the cases.
