Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has called on Banking Mohtasib Pakistan to bolster its efforts in raising public awareness about its services, with the goal of protecting banking customers from fraudulent activities. This request was made during a meeting with the Banking Mohtasib, Sirajuddin Aziz, who presented the 2025 Annual Report in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the President emphasized the significant role of information technology in modern banking services and noted that a lack of knowledge leaves customers susceptible to fraud. He urged the Banking Mohtasib to focus on facilitating access to justice for women, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, low-income communities, and other vulnerable groups.
The Banking Mohtasib reported that in 2025, they received a total of 35,130 complaints, with an additional 13,793 carried over from the previous year. Out of 48,923 total complaints, 36,280 were resolved, resulting in over 1.8 billion rupees in relief for banking customers. In the first half of 2026, 21,392 new complaints were filed, an increase from 16,915 during the same period last year. During this time, 18,482 complaints were addressed, providing 762.76 million rupees in monetary relief to customers.
