Punjab Implements Mobile Axle Load Management System to Combat Road Overloading

Lahore: A review meeting on the recently implemented Mobile Axle Load Management System was held under the chair of Provincial Minister for Communications & Works Punjab Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth. According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the system is currently operational in five districts of Punjab: Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Multan, and Jhang. The initiative aims to address the issue of overloading on roads through the deployment of mobile weigh stations.

The meeting, attended by Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar alongside other key officials, highlighted the ongoing actions against overloading at these stations. The Provincial Minister emphasized that the main objective is to protect roads from damage caused by overloading and to prevent road accidents through effective load management.

Minister Bharth was briefed on the training of personnel at the mobile weigh stations, and it was confirmed that the necessary equipment and facilities are in place across the five districts. The mobile weigh stations, a first for Punjab, are designed for flexibility and can be relocated to various highways as needed to monitor heavy transport routes.

The initiative aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, focusing on road protection and traffic safety. The Provincial Minister affirmed that the system will significantly contribute to preventing overloading, ensuring road sustainability, and promoting safe travel for citizens.
