Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi called for an enhanced partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) to address various health challenges faced by Pakistan. This statement was made during a meeting with outgoing Country WHO Director Dr. Palitha Mahipala in Islamabad.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Alvi lauded WHO’s efforts in strengthening Pakistan’s primary healthcare system and supporting government health initiatives. He emphasized the importance of raising awareness about mental health and the necessity of early counseling at the household level, as well as concerted efforts to ensure the rights of people with disabilities.
President Alvi also acknowledged the significant contributions of Dr. Palitha Mahipala in improving Pakistan’s health sector and wished him success in his future endeavors. Dr. Mahipala commended the roles played by the President and the First Lady in promoting awareness on health issues, including breast cancer, mental health, and the rights of persons with disabilities.
