Karachi, President Dr. Arif Alvi has emphasized the necessity of providing equal educational opportunities to children across Pakistan, particularly focusing on inclusive education for those with disabilities and from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting with representatives from private schools and NGOs-operated schools in Karachi, President Alvi stressed the importance of inclusive education. He encouraged private institutions and welfare organizations to collaborate with the government to make education more accessible, especially for Children with Disabilities (CWDs).
The President highlighted the need to develop and implement an inclusive curriculum that caters to various learning styles and addresses the needs of students with different abilities. He insisted that educational facilities be made physically accessible for Students with Disabilities (SWDs), including the installation of ramps, elevators, and other essential amenities.
Moreover, President Alvi called for the creation of a basic charter on Inclusive Education by all stakeholders. This charter is expected to outline key elements of inclusive education, such as easy access for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in schools and specialized training for private school teachers in special education techniques.
The meeting underscores a significant step towards addressing educational disparities in Pakistan and ensuring that all children, regardless of their physical abilities or economic status, have access to quality education.
