Power Outage in Shopian Challenges Government’s Development Claims

Srinagar: Residents of Kathpora in Shopian, located in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, are facing significant challenges due to a prolonged power outage that has lasted for six days, causing widespread difficulties for the community.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the ongoing crisis highlights a disconnect between the Modi government’s assurances of infrastructure advancements in the region following the abrogation of Article 370 and the actual hardships experienced by the local populace. Despite repeated appeals to relevant authorities, efforts to restore the electricity supply have not been successful.

The timing of the outage has exacerbated the frustration among locals, as it coincides with the sacred month of Ramadan. Residents have expressed their disappointment at the continued neglect, emphasizing their repeated but ignored requests for assistance during this important religious period.

Community members have urgently called on the Power Development Department (PDD) to restore electricity promptly, seeking immediate action to alleviate their suffering.

This situation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by residents in the region, contrasting sharply with New Delhi’s claims of development and progress in the area.
