Islamabad: A streamlined registration process has been introduced to facilitate broader access to the Prime Minister’s fuel relief scheme, as announced by Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja. The initiative aims to provide a fuel subsidy of one hundred rupees per litre to eligible users of two- and three-wheelers, and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc.

According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Khawaja, accompanied by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, detailed the registration process during a news conference. Eligible applicants can complete the process from home by sending their CNIC number, plate number, the first letter of their province, and the vehicle’s registration date via SMS to 9771. A subsequent message, TOK, sent to the same number will generate a token required to redeem the fuel subsidy at petrol stations.

The Information Technology Minister emphasized that the scheme is designed to alleviate financial pressures on deserving individuals amid current economic challenges. Efforts will be made to increase awareness about the program, alongside ongoing austerity measures.

Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, pledging twenty-five billion rupees monthly for the scheme despite limited resources.
