Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the importance of improving the quality of locally produced materials to enhance export performance. In a meeting with the Pakistan Business Council, led by Chairman Shabbir Diwan, the Prime Minister outlined his vision for an export-driven economic growth strategy, highlighting the planned nationwide deployment of automated systems, akin to the Faceless Customs Assessment System implemented in Karachi.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister underscored the government’s commitment to transparency in service delivery as a key priority. He advocated for aligning local products with international standards through the integration of information technology and technological advancements across all sectors.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that national development and economic stability are contingent upon the collaboration between the government and the business sector. He emphasized the government’s focus on expanding the tax base and increasing revenue as part of its economic agenda.
The Pakistan Business Council delegation praised the Prime Minister for recent strides in economic stability. They highlighted the positive impact of reducing the policy interest rate to twelve percent on business activities and commended the success of the Faceless Customs Assessment System in Karachi, which has improved transparency and efficiency in the clearance process.
The delegation also acknowledged the enhanced performance of the Federal Board of Revenue following digitization and other reforms, which have been beneficial to the business community.
