PM Kakar Reaffirms Pakistan’s Support for Kashmiris’ Right to Self-Determination

Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, emphasizing the responsibility of the international community, particularly the United Nations, in this regard.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in his message on Right to Self Determination Day, PM Kakar expressed regret over the prolonged struggle of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to exercise this fundamental right. He criticized India’s ongoing efforts to oppress and subjugate the Kashmiri people, particularly since August 5, 2019. These actions, are aimed at changing the demographic structure and political landscape of IIOJK, thereby disenfranchising the Kashmiris in their own land.

PM Kakar also condemned the recent verdict of the Indian Supreme Court regarding the status of IIOJK, viewing it as a further denial of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. He stated that the genuine aspirations of the Kashmiris cannot be suppressed through domestic legislation and judicial decisions.

He affirmed that Pakistan will persist in providing its full political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their legitimate struggle for their rights, including the right to self-determination, in line with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

This statement underscores Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmir issue and its call for international intervention to address the long-standing conflict.
