ISLAMABAD, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar voiced his eagerness to bolster Pakistan’s relationship with the African continent during a meeting with a visiting Rwandan Senate delegation.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the delegation, spearheaded by the President of the Rwandan Senate, Dr. Kalinda Francois-Xavier, met with Prime Minister Kakar in Islamabad on Wednesday. During the discussions, Prime Minister Kakar articulated his satisfaction with the existing amicable relations between Pakistan and Rwanda. He highlighted Pakistan’s interest in deepening ties with Africa, especially in areas such as trade, investment, IT, agriculture, and fostering people-to-people connections. Furthering this commitment, he extended an invitation to Rwanda to inaugurate its diplomatic mission in Islamabad, noting that Pakistan had initiated its mission in Kigali just last year.
Stressing the importance of inter-parliamentary interactions, Prime Minister Kakar hailed and expressed gratitude for the landmark visit by the President of the Senate of the Republic of Rwanda, emphasizing its significance as a first of its kind. He also lauded Rwanda’s significant economic strides in recent times. Responding to the Prime Minister’s remarks, Dr. Kalinda Francois-Xavier extended his gratitude for the hospitable reception his delegation received. He mentioned that during their stay, the delegation had constructive meetings with parliamentarians, governmental representatives, and the private sector. This official visit by the Rwandan Senate delegation comes upon the invitation extended by the Chairman Senate of Pakistan.
