PM Kakar Advocates for UN-Backed Resolution in Kashmir’s Future, Meets with Hurriyat Leaders

Muzaffarabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized that the final decision regarding the future of Jammu and Kashmir should align with the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. This statement was made during his meeting with a delegation of Hurriyat leaders in Muzaffarabad on Thursday.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Kakar’s discussions with the Hurriyat delegation were centered on the ongoing situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The Hurriyat leaders expressed their gratitude towards the Prime Minister for his solidarity with the Kashmiris and for condemning the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the status change of Jammu and Kashmir.

In his address, Prime Minister Kakar was noted to resonate with the sentiments of the Kashmiri people. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiris at both political and diplomatic levels. He also outlined plans for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistani Missions abroad to enhance engagement with international think tanks, media, and academia, aiming to bring greater international attention to the Kashmir issue.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Kakar announced strategies to address the Kashmir case in major global capitals such as Washington DC, London, and Brussels. He strongly rejected the decision of the Supreme Court of India regarding the status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and stated that India cannot bypass its international obligations through internal legislation and judicial decisions.
