ISLAMABAD, Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has underscored the importance of fostering financial self-reliance in the society, guiding relevant authorities to formulate a conducive strategy.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this directive was issued during a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister in Islamabad, which focused on evaluating the advancements and outcomes of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). While recognizing the positive outcomes of the BISP, Prime Minister Kakar highlighted that the long-term sustainability of Pakistan is closely tied to its population’s financial independence. The Prime Minister has called for a structured plan that fosters collaboration between government entities and private welfare organizations. This collaboration aims to offer technical training to BISP beneficiaries, tailored to cater to the job market’s requirements. The Prime Minister further proposed that prominent business enterprises and individuals should join hands with the BISP under the umbrella of Corporate Social Responsibility. He reiterated the government’s commitment to support society’s vulnerable sectors. The Prime Minister was informed that the BISP presently benefits approximately 60 million individuals nationwide.
