Islamabad, In a meeting held today, the Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, called for bolstered cooperation between Pakistan and the United Nations to improve the country’s resilience against catastrophic events.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the dialogue took place with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Pakistan, Mohamed Yahya, where Iqbal highlighted the longstanding and robust relationship between Pakistan and various UN agencies. He acknowledged the UN’s critical support during past crises, including the 2022 floods, emphasizing the need for continued and enhanced collaboration.
Mohammad Yahya, in response, praised the government’s “5Es” initiative, which he noted aligns with key areas of growth, and presented a souvenir to Ahsan Iqbal, symbolizing the onset of renewed efforts between Pakistan and the United Nations.
