PDP President Mehbooba Mufti Reiterates Commitment to Kashmiri Rights

Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti, President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reaffirmed her party’s commitment to advocating for the rights, dignity, and identity of the people in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a party convention in Kupwara, Mufti called for unity among party members and supporters amidst the ongoing political challenges in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mufti’s statement was made on the sidelines of the convention. She emphasized the importance of staying united in the face of difficulties faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite the recent electoral successes of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in several Indian states, Mufti expressed optimism about the prospects of opposition parties in the 2024 elections.

The Election Commission’s recent trends showed the BJP leading in significant numbers of seats in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. Despite these developments, Mufti avoided commenting on the delay in elections in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing instead on addressing the local issues faced by the people of Kupwara.
