ISLAMABAD, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram, advocated for the resolution of longstanding disputes centered around the right to self-determination, specifically referencing the situations in Palestine and Kashmir.
According to a news release by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Akram addressed an international youth delegation at the Pakistan Mission, emphasizing the urgency to address these disputes. He underscored that recent conflicts in the Middle East further underlined the necessity to resolve such long-standing issues.
Munir Akram pointed out that, in Kashmir’s case, India has consistently denied the Kashmiri people their inherent right to self-determination. This denial, he remarked, is in direct contradiction to international law, the UN Charter, and resolutions set forth by the UN Security Council.
In conclusion, the Ambassador praised the dedication of the youth in their endeavors to foster peace and combat climate change.
