Islamabad: The National Assembly of Pakistan has unanimously passed a resolution recognizing the country’s role in facilitating a peace agreement between the United States and Iran. This move highlights Pakistan’s emergence as a neutral mediator on the international stage.

According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution was introduced by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and their team in the negotiation process. The House expressed satisfaction over the diplomatic achievement, which led to the cessation of hostilities and the signing of a peace agreement between the US and Iran.

The resolution further congratulated the leadership of both Iran and the United States for reaching this historic peace deal. Meanwhile, the National Assembly continues to discuss the budget for the next financial year, with Raja Pervez Ashraf suggesting a salary increase for employees due to inflation and advocating for a ten percent raise. He also called for political unity to chart a sustainable economic future and emphasized encouraging investment from overseas Pakistanis to create job opportunities.
