Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari marked the first commemoration of Marka-e-Haq by emphasizing Pakistan’s strategic and disciplined response during a period of heightened tensions with India, underscoring the nation’s commitment to defense and peace.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari reflected on the events of April and May of the previous year, describing them as a pivotal moment for the country. He stated that the Pahalgam operation by India, which involved unprovoked strikes on Pakistani soil, was met with precision and unity through Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. This military response, he noted, highlighted Pakistan’s professional competence and tri-service coordination, reinforcing the country’s deterrence capabilities.
The President acknowledged the sacrifices of the armed forces and civilians, asserting that every Pakistani stands ready to defend the nation when necessary. He also discussed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in West Asia, noting the country’s role in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, which helped stabilize the regional environment.
President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing its significance as a source of regional instability. He criticized India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, describing it as a threat to livelihoods and a violation of the agreement’s intended purpose. Additionally, he addressed the issue of terrorism, affirming Pakistan’s determination to eliminate threats from groups such as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.
In his message, the President affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to sovereignty and international law, advocating for dialogue over conflict. He concluded by stating that Marka-e-Haq remains a testament to the nation’s resilience and readiness to defend its values and territory.
