Islamabad: In a recent survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, it was revealed that a significant portion of Pakistani parents prioritize their children’s future job prospects and the development of good manners and discipline when considering their education. The survey found that 30% of parents identified securing a good job as the most important outcome of their children’s education, while 29% emphasized the importance of good manners and discipline.
According to Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, this survey is part of their ongoing series titled ‘Understanding the School Landscape in Pakistan.’ The series aims to shed light on various aspects of education in the country. The survey included a representative sample of 1,415 married men and women from both urban and rural areas across Pakistan’s four provinces. Conducted through telephonic surveys between March 18 and March 31, 2026, the study provides insights into the diverse expectations parents have regarding their children’s education.
The findings indicate that there are notable differences in priorities based on generational, gender, and educational backgrounds. For instance, younger parents and women tend to prioritize good manners and discipline more highly, whereas older parents place greater emphasis on securing a good job. Additionally, parents with higher educational qualifications such as FA+ are more inclined to prioritize higher education for their children compared to those with lesser educational attainments.
The survey highlights a complex landscape where parents view education as a critical tool for both economic success and personal development. The report is available for further scrutiny on the official Gallup Pakistan website.
