Islamabad: The Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has extended an invitation to Chinese investors to engage in the development of high-tech slaughterhouses in Pakistan. This initiative aims to bolster meat exports to China, reflecting a strategic expansion of bilateral cooperation in the livestock sector.
According to Radio Pakistan, during a high-level meeting with a Chinese delegation in Islamabad, the Minister emphasized Pakistan’s strong potential in livestock, underscored by a significant animal population and a strategic location conducive to producing high-quality halal meat. Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted that investment in modern slaughtering and meat processing facilities would not only increase exports but also create jobs, enhance value addition, improve food safety standards, and boost farmers’ incomes.
The Minister reiterated the Pakistani government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment to attract foreign investment in agriculture and livestock. He noted that China, as one of the world’s largest meat consumers and importers, offers a significant opportunity for Pakistan to expand its export market.
The Chinese delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s livestock potential and expressed interest in exploring collaborative opportunities in various areas, including meat processing, technology transfer, quality assurance, and export infrastructure. Both parties agreed to strengthen technical collaboration, promote business partnerships, and work together to address regulatory and sanitary requirements to facilitate increased meat exports to China.
