Islamabad: Pakistan has reached out to China for collaboration in the livestock sector, focusing on enhancing meat exports, as announced during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain. The meeting, attended by a Chinese delegation, aimed to explore bilateral cooperation opportunities.
According to Press Information Department, the Federal Minister highlighted Pakistan’s potential in the livestock sector, supported by its large animal population and strategic location, which offers a promising opportunity to expand meat exports to China. Rana Tanveer Hussain invited Chinese investors to establish technologically advanced slaughterhouses and meat processing facilities in Pakistan, ensuring the production of high-quality halal meat for export.
The Minister assured that the Government of Pakistan is dedicated to facilitating foreign investment by providing a conducive business environment and policy support. The investment is expected to boost exports, create jobs, enhance food safety, and improve farmers’ incomes.
The Chinese delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s livestock potential and showed interest in cooperation in meat processing and technology transfer. Both parties agreed to enhance technical collaboration and address regulatory requirements to increase meat exports to China.
