Pakistan Rejects CBS Report on Iranian Aircraft as Misleading

Islamabad: Pakistan has firmly dismissed a recent CBS News report claiming the presence of Iranian aircraft at the Nur Khan Airbase, labeling it as misleading and sensationalized. The report is seen as an attempt to undermine ongoing efforts for regional stability and peace.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the arrival of aircraft from Iran and the United States in Pakistan coincided with the ceasefire period and the initial round of the Islamabad Talks. These aircraft were intended to facilitate the movement of diplomatic personnel, security teams, and administrative staff related to the talks. While some aircraft and support personnel remain in Pakistan, the Ministry clarified that this is in anticipation of future diplomatic engagements, not military operations.

Despite the formal negotiations not resuming, senior diplomatic exchanges have persisted. The Iranian Foreign Minister’s visits to Islamabad were supported through existing logistical arrangements, affirming Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue.

The Ministry emphasized that the presence of Iranian aircraft in Pakistan is unrelated to any military contingency plans. Assertions linking the aircraft to military activities are deemed speculative and detached from reality.

Pakistan continues to position itself as an impartial facilitator in promoting dialogue and de-escalation, providing logistical and administrative support transparently and in communication with all relevant parties. The nation remains committed to fostering dialogue, reducing tensions, and advancing peace and stability both regionally and globally.
