Islamabad: Federal Minister for Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, recently met with a delegation from the Saudi Investment Forum to discuss enhancing economic cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, focusing on facilitating Saudi investments in Pakistan.
According to Press Information Department, the delegation, led by Kunwar Qutbuddin and accompanied by key members from the Pakistan Investor & Business Forum and Mokamela International LLC, briefed the minister on the consolidation of investment forums in Riyadh and Jeddah into a single entity representing over 400 businesses. The forum aims to provide a credible platform to strengthen commercial ties and facilitate business-to-business linkages.
The delegation underscored Saudi Arabia’s growing role as a regional hub for trade and investment, pointing to new opportunities for collaborations and joint ventures. They expressed appreciation for Mr. Sheikh’s efforts in promoting investment in Pakistan and acknowledged his understanding of the business sector, supported by his extensive background in commerce.
Mr. Sheikh emphasized the Pakistani government’s commitment to strengthening ties with Saudi Arabia and assured the delegation of full facilitation for genuine Saudi investors. He highlighted the efforts of the Board of Investment to attract foreign investments and explained ongoing regulatory reforms aimed at simplifying business procedures.
The minister also discussed the role of Honorary Investment Counsellors in promoting Pakistan’s investment potential and the establishment of the Business Facilitation Center to streamline interactions between investors and government departments. He encouraged Saudi investors to explore opportunities in sectors like agriculture, information technology, and energy.
The meeting concluded with an invitation for Mr. Sheikh to participate in an upcoming investment conference organized by the Saudi Investment Forum. The minister welcomed the invitation, expressing his readiness to engage further with Saudi business leaders. The delegation voiced confidence that continued collaboration would lead to concrete investment projects and strengthen economic partnerships between the two countries.
