Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced the distribution of 500 modern streetlights to Union Council (UC) Chairmen and 50 fumigation machines to Town Chairmen, a move aimed at improving municipal services on the occasion of Rabi-ul-Awwal. The initiative fulfills a promise made during the budget session, focusing on enhancing illumination and municipal sanitation across the city.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the announcement was made during a ceremony at the KMC head office. The event was attended by key figures, including KMC Municipal Commissioner Abrar Jaffer and Finance Advisor Gulzar Abro, among others. Mayor Wahab highlighted the simultaneous provision of fire safety equipment to the Fire Brigade Department, emphasizing improved safety measures for firefighters. He also expressed gratitude to key political figures and the Pakistan Peoples Party for their support in upgrading the city’s fire safety capabilities with a budget of Rs. 7 billion.
The mayor underscored the importance of collective efforts for Karachi’s development, urging political unity to advance the city’s growth. He also noted ongoing discussions with the Chinese Consul General regarding fumigation cooperation, showcasing international support for Karachi’s developmental initiatives.
