Pakistan Observes International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

Islamabad, On the occasion of the World Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the President of Pakistan has expressed solidarity with women vulnerable to violence. He emphasized that violence against women is a global issue, requiring collective action and attention.

According to Press Information Department, Pakistan is dedicated to creating a society where women can live without fear and violence. To achieve this, the country has implemented several initiatives, including the establishment of the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), Family Protection Centers in Islamabad, Women’s Crisis and Shelter Centers in provinces, and enactment of key legislations like the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Amendment) Act, 2022, and the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act 2021. The country has also increased the availability of counseling services, shelters, and helplines for women affected by violence. Pakistan is actively collaborating with international organizations to eliminate violence against women. The President called for increased efforts from government organizations, civil society, media, and Ulema in this endeavor.
