Karachi, Vice Chief of Naval Staff Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami has reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s dedication to enhancing maritime security in the country’s zones. This commitment was emphasized during the concluding ceremony of the inaugural Maritime Security Exercise SEA GUARD-24 held in Karachi.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Bilgrami highlighted the exercise’s objectives, which included reviewing response procedures against maritime incidents, identifying gaps, and improving response mechanisms. The exercise, he noted, was crucial in examining the current state of maritime security and proposing tangible solutions to simmering issues.
The Vice Naval Chief pointed out that SEA GUARD-24 offered a unique opportunity to reinforce cooperation among various maritime stakeholders in Pakistan, such as shipping, fishing, law enforcement, and private entities. This collaboration was facilitated through the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre, serving as a common platform for these diverse groups.
Bilgrami expressed gratitude towards all stakeholders for their efforts in making the exercise successful. The event provided a venue for tactical exercises, sharing best practices, and enhancing mutual understanding among participants, thereby contributing significantly to the country’s maritime security efforts.
