Islamabad, Aneeq Ahmed, the Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, has stated that the government is actively working to promote interfaith harmony across the country.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, speaking at a seminar on interfaith harmony at a private university in Islamabad, Ahmed emphasized the peaceful essence of Islam and its teachings on respecting all religions. He asserted that Islam allows complete freedom for individuals to practice their beliefs and highlighted that minorities in Pakistan enjoy full freedom and safety.
Ahmed expressed optimism about Pakistan’s future, discouraging the spread of disappointment in society. He emphasized the importance of raising awareness about interfaith harmony among the youth, suggesting that organizing seminars in educational institutions is a crucial step in this direction.
Qibla Ayaz, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology, also spoke at the seminar. He praised the Ministry of Religious Affairs for its efforts to nurture interfaith harmony, especially among the younger generation. Ayaz stressed that social cohesion should be based on interfaith respect and harmony.
Religious scholars from various faiths who attended the seminar commended the Pakistani government’s initiative to hold such events in educational settings. They also praised the Evacuee Trust Property Board for launching projects aimed at the welfare of non-Muslim communities in Pakistan.
These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to fostering an environment of mutual respect and understanding among different religious groups in Pakistan.
