KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has made notable advancements in modernizing its operations, which has significantly increased revenue and streamlined the export process. Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Rashid Mahmood Langrial, highlighted these achievements during a ceremony marking International Customs Day-2025 at the Customs House in Karachi.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the implementation of the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and the Faceless Customs Assessment (FCA) System has been pivotal in enhancing trade efficiency. These systems have been credited with making the trade process faster and more transparent, leading to swift clearance of export goods.
Chairman Langrial, addressing the audience as the chief guest, emphasized the importance of the World Customs Theme-2025, “Customs delivering on its commitment to efficiency, security, and prosperity.” He noted that traders in Karachi have expressed satisfaction with the new systems, which align with Pakistan Customs’ goals to modernize and innovate.
The event also included flag hoisting and a tribute at the Martyrs’ Monument. Collector Customs Enforcement Karachi, Moinuddin Wani, and Member Customs Operation (FBR), Junaid Jalil, expressed their gratitude to the attendees and reiterated Pakistan Customs’ commitment to combating smuggling and supporting the country’s economic stability.
International Customs Day, celebrated globally on January 26, saw participation from various dignitaries, including consul generals and representatives from Oman, Indonesia, Kuwait, Russia, and the UAE, alongside senior customs officials and business leaders. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to commend the outstanding performance of customs officers.
