Islamabad, the Foreign Office of Pakistan expressed its regret over the promotion of a narrative in India that is critical of Pakistan, especially in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The remarks were made in response to a book by former Indian diplomat Ajay Bisaria, which was discussed at the Foreign Office’s weekly news briefing.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch highlighted concerns about the use of the Pulwama incident for political gains in India. She suggested that the narrative put forth in Bisaria’s book continues India’s misleading accounts of the events in February 2019. Baloch described the Balakot incident as a military failure for India, emphasizing Pakistan’s responsible behavior and capability to respond to threats.
The spokesperson further criticized the promotion of force in diplomacy, labeling it indicative of a rising fascist mindset in India. Additionally, she addressed questions regarding Afghanistan, urging Afghan authorities to act against terrorists, including the TTP leadership, and to eliminate terrorist hideouts.
Baloch reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance on not engaging in dialogue with the TTP, responsible for several terrorist attacks in Pakistan. She also mentioned Pakistan’s support for South Africa’s legal action against Israel at the International Court of Justice, condemning Israeli atrocities in Gaza. The spokesperson called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, an end to the massacre of Palestinians, and the creation of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al Sharif as its capital.
