Pakistan Condemns Global Torture Practices, Calls for International Accountability

Islamabad: On the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, Pakistan expressed its solidarity with victims worldwide, emphasizing the eradication of torture and the protection of fundamental human rights. The country reaffirmed its commitment to upholding human dignity and justice, condemning torture as a violation of both international law and Islamic principles.

According to Press Information Department, the Pakistani government reiterated its resolve to strengthen legal and institutional measures to protect individuals from torture and ensure accountability for perpetrators. The Prime Minister highlighted the need for providing medical, psychological, legal, and social support to victims while advancing reforms to enhance protection and oversight mechanisms.

Pakistan voiced concern over the use of torture by foreign occupying powers, particularly in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The government called on the international community to address the human rights violations in these regions, citing reports of arbitrary detentions and enforced disappearances as evidence of systematic abuses.

Urging global attention to these issues, Pakistan called for international cooperation to promote accountability and support victims. The country reaffirmed its support for the self-determination of people in IIOJK, aligning with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
