New York: Pakistan has underscored the necessity of establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state as the sole pathway to achieving lasting peace in the Middle East. The call for action was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a UN Security Council meeting focused on the Middle East and the Palestinian Question.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad emphasized the importance of creating a state of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He highlighted this as the only assurance for enduring tranquility in the region. Addressing the Security Council, Ahmad expressed concerns regarding the ongoing situation in Gaza and the West Bank.
Ambassador Ahmad urged the Security Council to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the conditions across all occupied Palestinian territories. He called for a decisive approach to addressing the obstacles to peace, emphasizing the urgent need for a holistic understanding of the region’s challenges.
