Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs Focuses on Grievance Redressal and Citizen Engagement

Islamabad: A meeting of the Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs was convened under the chairmanship of Mr. Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, MNA, at the Parliament House. The session focused on reviewing the performance and initiatives of the Prime Minister Public Affairs and Grievance Wing (PM’s PA&GW), emphasizing efforts to enhance citizen engagement and streamline the public grievance redressal system.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the Secretary of Parliamentary Affairs presented a briefing on the PM’s PA&GW’s achievements and future plans. The briefing highlighted that the Wing received 18,590 complaints between July 2025 and June 2026, successfully addressing 17,104 of them, reflecting a 92 percent disposal rate. This period also saw an increase in complaints from 17,975 in the previous year to 18,590, indicating growing public confidence in the Pakistan Citizens’ Portal and the grievance system.

The Secretary outlined several initiatives aimed at improving public service delivery, including nationwide awareness campaigns and the launch of a dedicated short code, 1733, for complaint registration. During the 2025 floods, the Wing established Flood Relief Desks in affected districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to address grievances related to compensation, rehabilitation, and livelihood restoration. Community focal persons were engaged to facilitate vulnerable citizens, ensuring timely and effective relief.

The Chairman commended the PM’s PA&GW for its efforts in enhancing the public grievance mechanism and citizen outreach. He stressed the importance of resolving public grievances efficiently and urged the Wing to maintain a focus on public relief. The meeting was attended by several members of the committee and senior officers from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Railways, and National Highway Authority.
