Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has entered a new phase of judicial collaboration with Türkiye, hosting a delegation from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye, led by President Kadir Özkaya. The visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Judicial Cooperation, marking a significant step in institutional reform and partnership between the two countries.
According to Press Information Department, the MoU was signed by Justice Yahya Afridi, Chief Justice of Pakistan, and Kadir Özkaya. The ceremony, held at the Supreme Court, was attended by prominent figures including the Chief Justices of Pakistan’s High Courts, the Federal Minister for Law and Justice, and representatives of the legal fraternity. The agreement aims to enhance judicial cooperation through structured frameworks focusing on judicial exchange, capacity building, and professional training.
The collaboration emphasizes the adoption of modern technologies in judicial processes, aiming to improve efficiency and access to justice. It also includes joint research initiatives and the establishment of a Joint Working Group for effective implementation. The visit ended with a symbolic sapling planting, underscoring the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Türkiye.
