Islamabad: In a significant development to enhance bilateral relations, Pakistan and Turkey have resolved to increase investment and business activities. This decision was reached during a round table business conference, co-chaired by Turkey’s Trade Minister Prof. Dr. Omer Bolat and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan.
According to Press Information Department, the conference was marked by the presence of key figures including Turkey’s Deputy Trade Minister Mustafa Tuzcu, Ambassador Mehmet Pacaci, and leaders from Turkish business chambers. Prominent members of Pakistan’s business community were also in attendance. Discussions focused on deepening economic cooperation, with both nations eyeing expansions in various sectors including infrastructure.
Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the longstanding brotherhood and cooperative ties between Pakistan and Turkey, noting the timeliness for boosting economic interactions. He assured full support to the Turkish business community’s interests in Pakistan, highlighting the mutual benefits anticipated from increased collaboration.
Prof. Dr. Omer Bolat echoed these sentiments, declaring a new era for Turkey-Pakistan economic relations and pledging Turkey’s full support under all circumstances. Proposals were made to leverage Turkey’s modern machinery and Pakistan’s raw materials to foster development.
In a related development, Pakistan’s efforts to attract foreign investment continued with Abdul Aleem Khan’s meeting with Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China. Discussions focused on the active role of Pakistan’s Commercial Section in China and the burgeoning business-to-business activities between Pakistan and China. More than 100 Chinese companies have recently entered the Pakistani market, signaling a growing interest in sectors such as textiles, plastics, surgical equipment, and footwear. Plans for joint ventures in construction were also discussed, with commitments to provide extensive support to Chinese firms operating in Pakistan.
These meetings underscore Pakistan’s strategic push to fortify economic partnerships with key allies, setting a robust framework for future trade and investment endeavors.
