ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to deepen their energy cooperation, following a meeting between Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki in Islamabad. The discussions focused on strengthening strategic energy partnerships and exploring investment opportunities in the energy sector.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ali Pervaiz Malik emphasized Pakistan’s interest in expanding its energy ties with Saudi Arabia, particularly with Saudi Aramco. He expressed gratitude for the preferential treatment Pakistan receives in petroleum supplies from Saudi Arabia. The minister also highlighted the Pakistani government’s ongoing efforts to address the country’s energy needs and commended Saudi Arabia’s support in these endeavors.
The Saudi Ambassador acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and stability and pledged continued Saudi assistance to help Pakistan overcome its energy security challenges. The meeting also covered topics such as energy security and refinery upgradation, with both parties expressing a commitment to further investment and collaboration in the energy sector.
